I've tried to notify the author before to no avail. I was thinking of it now, I am still disappointed. Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Community Reviews. This author tells her story, almost in a novel style. You feel for her and begin cheering for her. I recommend this book. Got this book today from an Ereader deal. I didn't want to keep reading but could not put it down.

What an inspiring story of a young girl who was failed by so many people in her life. It took so much strength to share this story. It gives hope to other victims and spreads awareness. However, I must say Sarah was a survivor not a victim. Jun 17, Sheila Read marked it as to-read. I have taken care of many different children that have been abused.

Sep 07, Courtney rated it did not like it Shelves: kill-it-with-fire. I don't think an editor laid eyes on this before it was published. There were way too many commas in one spot, some places had no commas at all and became a big run-on sentence, there were no possessive apostrophes, etc.

I cringed while reading this mess and couldn't focus on the story because I was too busy finding mistakes and seething over them. Nov 30, Katelyn added it. I was notified that I won this book through Goodreads in a giveaway that ended June 30th. I didn't receive my copy, and after about two months had passed, I contacted Melody, the person who listed the giveaway. I didn't get a reply, and still haven't received a copy, now about five months since the giveaway ended.

I had hoped I would receive it eventually so that I could give this book a proper review, but it doesn't look like that is going to be happening! This book is indeed very poorly written, in terms of grammar, but it is a story of survival. It's visceral. It's personal. I think the mistakes can be forgiven. Though, I would recommend the author hire a good editor and reissue in the future. I would like to read the second part at some point, to see how she thrived.

I know what a tough road it can be. Nov 10, Shari rated it really liked it. Really brings home the sad truth that things like this really happen and people choose to either ignore it or look the other way. It makes me angry to know that so many people didn't realize or want to realize what was happening to this girl and also that her mother wasn't woman enough to stand up for herself or her daughter.

Jun 27, Kristen Clark rated it it was ok Shelves: true-crime. A very quick read. Interesting and sad story, but the extensive amount of grammatical errors drove me crazy. Just so sad Can't even explain the grief I feel reading these books. Everyday 10 children die from child abuse. This is a true story about a young girl that suffered abuse for many years, while the world around her had no idea. View all 3 comments. Nov 17, Lisa N rated it it was ok. This was a very clinical story. It was sad but you didnt connect with Sarah at all.
